Laser Tube Replacement near Horsham, on a Fabertec L1 1390 – Bel Signs
The visit to our customer, BEL Signs was requested as the customer had reported that the laser tube might need replacing as the Fabertec machine not cutting . The laser tube replacement was carried out by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The visit included: –
Fabertec L1 1390 – 130w
Upon arrival at BEL Signs the Fabertec flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine looked to be in good condition. However it was noted that the safety interlocks on the main or rear door. This would mean that the laser could fire whilst the door was open. Making this system a class 4 laser machine.
Before the laser tube replacement was started, some initial checks were carried out. All the mirrors and the main focusing lens were checked. All were contaminated. These were all cleaned and remounted.
Due to the mirrors being all dirty the old laser tube power was tested after the second mirror, the laser power was measured and shown to be 120w. This indicated that the laser tube itself did not need replacing. The dirty lens would have reduced the power and the cut quality, but it wouldn’t stop the system from cutting properly. Gavin then checked the alignment of the system. This was out of position in all 4 extremities of the laser bed. The laser beam was realigned across the entire bed and the power was now measured from the exit aperture of the nozzle. The laser power was shown to be 126w @ 75%.
As the laser tube replacement didn’t need to go ahead Gavin conducted a service of the machine to ensure that the customer machine was in the best state possible, the items he carried out were: –
- Electrical Systems – Fit & Function
- Chiller Check – Fit & Function
- Chiller drain, flush and water replacement
- Bed Leveling check
- Check overall machine function
