Laser Service near Streatham, on a HPC 6090 LaserScript Machine – St Joseph’s College
A visit to our customer, St Joseph’s College was required as the customer was requiring a service on their aging laser machine, as we recommend a yearly service for all our customer to keep their machines running at peak performance. The HPC service was conducted by our highly experience service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser service visit included: –
Upon arrival at the customers site, the HPC Laserscript machine was visually inspected. It was noted that there had been some heat damage on the silicon piping supplying the air assist to the nozzle.

This section was removed and replaced with 8mm Air hose. The rest of the machine was in a ok condition.
The main service items that were then carried out: –
- Inspect and Clean All Mirrors and Main Focusing Lens
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Inspect and Hoovered out the laser chamber and bed area
- Inspect, Drain and Refill Chiller cooling circuit
- Electronics Inspection
- Check Bed Level
- Check the field scale calibration of both X and Y axes.
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials

The chiller unit was drained and cleaned, however there was still a lot of sediment inside the chiller which was unable to be removed. This was mainly down to the design of the chiller unit, having a large transparent plastic lid on the top section of the chiller, which would allow lots of natural light in which would encourage bacteria to grow inside the chiller unit. The unit’s water was replaced with the customer own stock water.

After all the laser machine’s services were checked the laser was tested again at the laser aperture of the nozzle. It was now showing to be 62.4w @80%.
During the testing phase of the service, it was required to turn on the extraction unit. It was noted that the extractor was showing that the filters were blocked. All three error lights on the front of the unit were flashing, indicating that the extractor couldn’t reach the ‘requested’ air flow rate. The speed setting were adjusted down, to stop the flashing and alarming.
The extraction route was checked and the extraction grill required cleaning.

Following the extraction route the filters were checked and they were both dated May 2024. The AD Oracle’s Combined filter and Pre-filter were recommended to be replaced.
To complete the service several jobs were run on the machine to check it’s overall function.. and St Joseph’s College was happy with the results.
Any of the consumable items mentioned above, Lens, Mirrors, Laser tubes, Power supplies are all available and can be bought separately in our online shop.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I improve Inconsistent Cutting Depth?
Verify that the laser head is correctly focused for the material’s thickness
Check for debris or dust on the mirrors and lenses.
Ensure that the cutting bed is level across the entire work area.
How do I stop the laser from cutting unevenly?
Inspect and clean the optical components (mirrors and lenses).
Check that the work bed is level; an uneven bed will affect cutting depth.
Ensure the material is flat and secured in place on the bed.
How to stop the laser head dragging on Material
Ensure that the material is flat and not bowed or warped.
Check the height adjustment of the laser head and set the correct z-axis distance.
Verify that the workpiece is secured properly on the bed.
