Laser Service near Paddington, on a Technology Supplies 4060 60W – Paddington School
The visit to our customer Paddington Academy was for a service on their Technology Supplies 4060 60 watt flatbed laser marker. This service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser service visit includes: –

The engineer arrived on site and commenced the laser service. The machine was visually inspected and has been kept in a good condition.
The DT technician mentioned that the red pointer had stopped working. This was investigated by checking the voltages from the PSU (Power Supply Unit), it was found to not be producing the 5v required. The wires were disconnected and the voltage measured again. This was now reading 5v. The wires were checked for continuity and it was found that there was a connection, therefore a short between the wires.
This is a common issue on older machines, as these cables go through the cable chain of the machine and with continued use the cables get flexed, over time this can cause wear of of the internal wires causing breakages and shorts. It was recommended to change the wiring loom through the cable chain as a precaution.
The laser power was initially measured as a starting point in the service. The laser power was measured from the exit aperture of the nozzle, it was shown to be reading 77w @22mA @87% power.

- Lens Inspection & Clean
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Honey Comb Bed Inspection & Bed Leveling
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Full Laser Alignment Check – Slight Adjustment required
- Laser Tube Health Check
The beam alignment was checked and was adjust slightly. After completing the laser service, the laser power was once again checked at the exit aperture of the nozzle. The laser power was shown to measure 85.5w @22mA @ 87% power.
Some of Paddington Academy‘s jobs were run on the machine as a final test and the customer was happy with the outcome. The filters on their Bofa unit were checked and were found to be working perfectly.
