Laser Service near Hemel Hempstead, on a ATA AL1390 130watt Laser Machine – City Display Ltd
A visit to a new customer, City Display was requested as the customer had informed us that their ATA laser machine had a small fire and they also requested that a service be carried out on their machine at the same time. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser visit included: –
Upon arrival at City Display the machine was visually inspected. The machine had no visible signs of fire damage to the machine or any of it’s main components, there was only a certain amount of soot on the main chassis. The was cleaned off and the service of the machine was then carried out.
The optical path was inspected first and all 3 mirrors were removed and inspected. All were found to be damaged with the coating removed.
The mirrors were the Gold Silicon mirrors. In our experience these are better mirrors optically, but they are very susceptible to debris and damage being caused by the laser burning the applied coating off the surface, therefore rendering them useless. We much prefer to use the Molybdenum mirrors are they not only cheaper for the customer, but are also very resilient to use. You can use metal polish to bring them back from any damage, so we call them ‘bomb proof’.
The 3 mirrors were replaced and the laser beam aligned. The main focusing lens was inspected and it was also slightly damaged, this was replaced with the customer own spare 2.5″ lens that they had in stock.
The rest of the machine was then checked over and the following items were carried out with no issues
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Drained, Flushed and refilled Chiller unit
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Checked the field scale calibration of the X and Y axis
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The laser power was measured at the exit aperture of the laser head and was shown to be measuring 95.4w @85%.
A number of jobs were then run on the machine and all was shown to be working as the customer expects. This concluded the laser service
