Laser Service near Brighton, on a 6040 60 watt HPC LaserScript Machine – We Make Stuff Happen
A visit to a customer, We Make Stuff Happen was required as the customer had requested an annual service be conducted on their machine. The service was conducted by our highly experience laser service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –
HPC LaserScript Machine 6040 60 watt
Upon arrival at We Make Stuff Happen the machine was visually inspected. It was noted that upon starting up the machine that the air pump did turn on. It was connected to one of the three pin sockets. The socket that was supplying the air pump was inspected and was found to have a loose internal connection, meaning that it would only work when positioned in a certain way. The cables supplying the socket were in checked and was in good condition.
The air pump plug was moved to the socket that was previously supplying the extractor fan. It was recommended to the customer to connect the extractor fan directly to the wall socket, as this is the equipment with the highest current draw.
The HPC laser machine was still using the bucket of water, with a water pump inside. These do work fine in normal conditions however, they do need more maintenance than a standard chiller unit. As these are normally in a plastic container, they are susceptible to algae and bacteria growth if not changed on a roughly 3 monthly basis. We would always recommend a minimum of a CW 3000 chiller unit
The extraction unit that is usually supplied with these older units is an inline fan. On this particular unit the inline fan didn’t expel all the smoke from the chamber that effectively which also proves harder to maintain the consistency of the machine and it’s processing parameters.
The rest of the service was completed as per the below:-
- Inspect and Clean All Mirrors
- Inspect and clean main focus lens
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Honey Comb Bed Inspection & Leveling
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The machines laser power was tested from the nozzle. It showed a reading of 68.9 watts @ 85% power.
Several jobs were run on the machine to check it’s overall function and then Gavin ran through some essential maintenance and software training.
