Laser Relocation near Oxford, Thinklaser Lightblade 1490 60 watts – Pitt Rivers Museum
A visit to our customer, Pitt Rivers Museum was requested as the customer wished to relocate their laser machine from the third floor to the ground floor workshop. We would always recommend a pre-emptive conversation before moving your laser machine, to make sure correct procedures are followed and to ensure minimal downtime and for all our customers. The laser relocation was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The relocation visit included: –
Thinklaser Lightblade 1490 60 watt
Upon arrival at Pitt Rivers Museum the flatbed machine was initially tested to confirm that the machine was working and to gather information on pre- laser machine relocation state.

The laser machine relocation procedures were then started. The laser tube was removed, all the services to the machine were disconnected and the main gantry secured in place. As the move was discussed on a previous routine service visit, a survey of the proposed route had already been carried out. This survey of the route had pointed out that the machine would need to navigate through single doorways. For this very purpose our Lightblade machines have been designed so that the legs can be removed.

The machine was rotated onto it’s front and placed onto a suitable trolleys. The machine was then navigated along the predetermined route. The machine was easily maneuvered through the single doorways and into the new area. The feet were reattached and the machine secured it’s new location.

The machine was recommissioned and the standard installation procedures followed, the beam alignment was checked and the bed levelled. All test matched the initial checks before the relocation started.
On the previous visits the customer had mentioned if it is possible to vent the output of the extraction system to atmosphere instead of inside the workshop. We said that this is possible and had now brought the required sections. The unit was fitted with the vent to atmosphere kit, but the customer would have to install their own hole through their wall.
