A visit to a customer, Carrs of Sheffield was required as the customer had requested their annual service, which we would recommend for all our customers. The laser service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Upon arrival at Carrs of Sheffield the machine was visually inspected. The machine was in good condition. The service items were carried out: –
- Clean mirrors and lens
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The laser bed was checked for being level with the nozzle movement for both the X and Y axis, there was a slight difference between the front right of the machine and the rear right. This was measured at approximately 1mm. This was corrected and then the service items were continued.
The laser power was measured through the nozzle and was reading a power of 65w @ 25mA 82%.
The height of the bed was measured and was found to be 1mm out of flatness on the front right side. This was adjusted back to level.
When the machine had been re-assembled and final tests were being carried out, it was noticed that the automatic focusing pen was not being recognised by the system. The fault was found to be short in the wiring at the top of the automatic focusing pen. This may have occurred when the pen was removed for cleaning. The engineer replaced the automatic focusing pen free of charge. The focusing was measured and adjusted accordingly. The customer ran a number of jobs and was happy with the result and the service.
