Laser Machine Service near Scunthorpe, Thinklaser Lightblade’s 2 x 6090 80 watts & 1 x 4060 – 80 watts – Sanntangle
A visit to a customer, Sanntangle was required as the customer had requested their annual service on all three of their lightblade machines, which we would recommend for all our customers. The laser service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –
Thinklaser Lightblade 1st 6090 80 watt
Upon arrival at Sanntangle the first 6090 machine was visually inspected. Due to the material being processed on this machine, the unit was cosmetically dirty.


The customer had informed the engineer that the machine was producing a ‘Halo’ shaped beam after the third mirror. The mirrors were inspected. As can be seen from the photos below mirror 1 and mirror 2 were found to be dirty.


These mirror were removed and were able to be cleaned.


The laser beam was then rechecked for the ‘Halo’ effect. The beam was still showing the effect, so further investigation was required. The laser beam was checked straight out of the laser tube, and although small the ‘Halo’ effect could be seen. The laser tube dust cover lens protector was checked and was found to be contaminated. It was cleaned and replaced.


Upon returning the protector cap on the end of the tube. The laser beam was tested again. This time the ‘Halo’ effect had been removed, after both the laser tube and the third mirror.
The remainder of the service could now be continued: –
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
After completing all the normal service items as above, the laser alignment was checked and adjusted and the power measured from the nozzle. The power was showing that the laser was producing 86.5w @25mA 70%. The service for this machine had now been completed.

Thinklaser Lightblade 2nd 6090 80 watt
Sanntangle‘s second 6090 machine was also visually inspected. Due to the same material being processed on this machine, the unit was also cosmetically dirty. The customer had informed the engineer that the machine would not cut on the front section of the bed. All the mirrors were checked and they were all contaminated and cleaned.
The beam alignment was checked and was found to be not parallel between the first and second mirror. This would be why the machine was not cutting on the front section of the machine as the beam was progressively being more and more clipped by the mirror mount the further the head moved away from the laser tube. The alignment was corrected and before the laser power was tested the focusing lens was inspected. It was found to be dirty.


The focusing lens was changed for a new unit which the customer had within their spare stock. The remainder of the service could now be carried out on this machine: –
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level – Adjusted on the Front Right as was 1mm low.
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
After completing all the normal service items as above, the laser power was measured from the nozzle. The power was showing that the laser was producing 74.8w @25mA 70%. The service for this machine had now been completed.

Thinklaser Lightblade 4060 80 watt
Sanntangle‘s last machine to service was their 4060 machine, this was also visually inspected. Due to this machine processing different material the unit was comparable clean. The service was continued on this machine: –
- Inspected and Cleaned all mirrors and lens
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
After completing all the normal service items as above, the laser power was measured from the nozzle. The power was showing that the laser was producing 81.2w @25mA 75%. The service for this machine had now been completed.
