Laser Machine Service near Plymouth on a Flux Hexa – National Grid Plymouth
A visit to a customer, National Grid -Plymouth Station was required as the customer had a Flux Hexa in need of a service. The service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’.
Flux Hexa
Upon arrival at National Grid -Plymouth Station the machine was visually inspected. The machine had rust on some of the linear rails, speaking to the customer this was probably down to the use of PVC product being cut with the laser, this produces Chlorine Gas. Which is not good for anyone and is definitely not good for the machine. It was also noted that the machine was not in a heated room, so the area did feel cold as could be seen on the mirrors as they were fogged.

The power of the laser coming from the nozzle was attempted to be checked, but using the control panel would not fire the laser. The water reservoir was checked and was found to be full. The water flow was good, so all the electrical connections were tested. All of which were present and had good connections. The laser PSU was checked and was being supplied with mains voltage. The PSU safety circuitry was temporally bypassed and the laser was able to be pulsed. This showed that the laser PSU and the laser tube were not the route cause of the issue.

Upon further investigation the issue was possibly located to the interlock system and more directly to the door interlock circuitry and the internal lighting. This fault had not been seen before on these systems and so it was discussed with the customer and was decided that the machine be taken out of their facility and investigated further back at the Salfords Office at no extra charge to the customer
