Laser Machine Service near Newport, on a GS Laser 2 x 100 watt Machine – Moeller Tech UK Ltd
A visit to a new customer, Moeller Technology UK Ltd was requested by the customer as their GS Laser machine was in need of a service. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser visit included: –
Upon arrival at Moeller Technology UK Ltd the machine was visually inspected. The machine was a fabric auto-feed system with two laser heads. Both heads move independently of each other. The overall machine was found to be very dirty due to the material being processed.
The main debris and waster material was removed from the machine so that the laser service could be conducted without any hinderance of the material and debris.
It was noted that during the initial inspection that there were a number of issues with the machine. The customer had informed the engineer that they had a number of spare part available for the machine.
The first issue that was noted was that the machines HMI was heavily contaminated with dust. It was replaced with a spare from the customers stock. The customer was given the contaminated HMI as it would be able to be cleaned and then returned to their stock as a spare for potential future use.

The left hand laser head, main X-axis motor had damaged wiring, this would cause the motor to fail and could potentially cause the two heads to collide. The customer also had a replacement motor. So this fitted to the machine and re-wired into the existing wiring.

There was heavy grease build up on the linear rails and bearing blocks, this is important to remove on a regular basis, as it not only puts extract strain on the motor and belts, it may also cause inaccuracy in the machine operation. These were cleaned and re-lubricated.
The rest of the machine was then checked over and the following items were carried out with little to no issues
- Inspect and Clean All Mirrors
- Inspect and Clean Laser Nozzle
- Electrical Inspection and Clean
- Checked and Cleaned Laser Tube
- Check Beam Alignment – Slight adjustment needed on both heads
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The laser power was tested at the exit aperture of each of the laser nozzle. It was shown that both lasers were reading 88w.
A number of jobs were then run on the machine and all was shown to be working as the customer expects. This concluded the laser service
