Laser Machine Service near Mickleham, on a 6090 60 watt HPC LaserScript Machine – RGS Surrey Hills School

A visit to our new customer, RGS Surrey Hills School was requested by the customer as their HPC laser machine was in need of a service. The laser service of the HPC machine was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser repair visit included: –

HPC Laserscript – 6090 60 watt

Upon arrival at RGS Surrey Hills School the HPC machine was visually inspected. The machine’s laser tube was found to be dated 2021 so the power was initially tested at the exit aperture of the laser nozzle and was shown to be measuring 56.5w @99% power.  There are no milliammeters on these machines, which makes it difficult to establish the actual power being given to the machine and to avoid the potential of overdriving the laser tubes and reducing their operational lifespan.

The service items were then carried out on the machine.

The mirror and main focusing lens were inspected.  The mirrors were contaminated but were cleanable.  The beam alignment was checked and was adjusted slightly in the four corners.  The beam was also adjusted as the beam was firing through the centre of the nozzle, but was firing at an angle in relation to the Z-Axis.  This is the alignment that most people miss and depending on the thickness of the material that you are cutting may not show on your workpieces.

The remaining items were completed with some only minor issues-

  • Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
  • Inspect, Clean and tension belts
  • Check Step Length Calibration
  • Drained, flushed and refilled chiller with distilled water
  • Inspected Interlocks and Chiller Alarms
  • Inspected and checked electrics, sensors and switches
  • Checked and Cleaned Extractor Grill
  • Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test

After these service items had been completed the laser power was measured again at the exit aperture of the nozzle and was shown to be reading 72.5w @75%.
