Laser Machine Service near Kingston, Thinklaser Lightblade 6090 80 watt – Showprint Graphics Ltd
A visit to a customer, showprint graphics was required as the customer had requested their annual service, which we would recommend for all our customers. The service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Upon arrival at showprint graphics the machine was visually inspected. The machine was very dirty as the customer had used the machine for alot of MDF cutting. Cutting MDF vaporises the glue that holds the MDF together, this then can cause this residue to deposit on the rest of the machine. If you are cutting a large amount of MDF, remember to clean and lubricate your X and Y bearing rails on a more frequent basis.
The laser power was measured through the nozzle and was reading a power of 56w @ 25mA 73%. The mirrors, the lens, the laser tube lens cover and the nozzle were all cleaned. Re-tested the laser power out of the nozzle and was now showing 90.7w @25mA 73%.
The height of the bed was measured and was found to be 1mm out of flatness on the front right side. This was adjusted back to level.
The remainder of the service visit included the following: –
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
A last check of the machine was carried out and it was noted that the customer has been using a 5mm section of wood underneath the bed assembly. This had been fitted by the customer to try and help with some of the extraction. This practice is ‘Highly’ dangerous as the laser could catch the wood if the machine is setup for slow cutting and due to the beam being out of focus could enable the wood to catch fire. We would recommend that anything like this be replaced with some kind of metal plate if required.
We are currently implementing a fire detection and a fire suppressant system to our new Lightblade machine, but these won’t be available until late 2024.
