Laser Machine Service near Harrow, on a Technology Supplies 4060 60W – Whitefriars School
The visit to our customer Whitefriars School was for a service on their Technology Supplies 4060 60 watt flatbed laser marker. This service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser marker service visit includes: –
Technology Supplies 4060 60 watt
Upon arrival at Whitefriars School the engineer spoke to customer about any issues with the machine. The customer mentioned that he was unsure as to whether the machine had ever had a service, the machine was installed in 2018. He did say that the chiller alarms on the odd occasion and the Auto focus pen was not working.
The engineer first tested the laser power emitting from the main nozzle assembly. This was measured at 53w @22mA 84%. The mirrors and lens were inspected and cleaned as necessary.

On re-assembly of the nozzle housing the Auto focus pen was reseated properly, as it was out of position on the lens tube, cleaned the auto focus pen and nozzle assembly. With the older machines they were supplied with different lens, but not within a tube assembly, so it was difficult to change over from different lens. The customer requested that they would like both a 2″ lens assembly and a 2.5″ lens assembly to make it simpler to alternate between the two lens. The 2.5″ lens assembly was installed into the machine as the customers current requirement.
The chiller alarming issue was then investigated. The chiller was drained and refilled with fresh distilled water. All silicon pipes were inspected for damage or kinks. All were intact and unkinked. So nothing obvious was currently wrong with the chiller unit.
Checked all sensors, interlocks and e-stop circuitry and found issues as below: –
Checked the safety circuitry and adjusted the main door and interlock key as this was catching on the edges of the main door interlock and would result in damage at some point in the future.
The X-Axis homing sensor was found to be loose, so this was repositioned correctly and tightened in place, as with this potentially out of position would cause the motor to ‘over current’ and trip out if not corrected.
The Z-Axis lower limit sensor was found to be not working, the circuitry was checked and it was found that the wiring was reversed. This was corrected and tested using the controller feedback.
The main electrical system of the machine was then checked and this is where the issue with the chiller unit was found. One of the connectors on the reverse of the mains socket connector was loose. This loose connection caused the chiller to fluctuate between on and off causing the alarm to sound. Replaced the mains socket connector with a new 240v C13 panel mount connector and re-terminated the connections

As part of the main service the following items were also carried out
- Check the Bed Level – this was found to be 1mm lower on the right hand side.
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails

The engineer then ran through the machine maintenance tasks and good practices with the customer and the customer then tested the machine with some of their laser jobs. The customer was happy with the function of the machine.
Any of the consumable items mentioned above, Lens, Mirrors, Laser tubes, Power supplies are all available and can be bought separately in our online shop.
