Laser Machine Service near Farnham, on a 1290 80 watt HPC LaserScript Machine – Farnham Heath End School
A visit to a new customer, Farnham Heath End School was requested as the customers HPC Laser machine was in need of a service. The laser service visit was conducted by our highly experienced laser service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’, the machine service visit included: –
Upon arrival at Farnham Heath End School the machine was visually inspected. The laser machine looked to be in good overall condition.
During the initial tests of the machine it was noted that the alignment was incorrect in all 4 corners of the laser machines work area. The machine was in need of a full alignment procedure. Whilst conducting this procedure it was noted that the mirror mount of mirror 1 had been moved, which was the suspected cause of the overall alignment issue.
All the mirror and focusing lens were removed, cleaned and reinstated into their respective mounts. The main focusing 2″ lens had a blemish on the surface, it did not seem to effect the power or the cutting performance. It was replaced with a new lens, and was given to back to the school as an emergency spare
The laser service continued. It was noted whilst checking the sensors that the drawer tray interlock sensors had been taped together, effectively by-passing the safety circuitry. The sensors were reattached to their respective mounts and the units were correctly aligned to each other and were tested for functionality.

The remainder of the laser machine service was then continued. The following was carried out with no major issues seen: –
- Inspected, Drained and Flushed chiller before refilling with Distilled Water
- Inspected and Cleaned Belts
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Checked the remainder of the Sensors, Switches and Emergency stop
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
The HPC laser was then tested for the laser final output power coming from the exit of the laser nozzle. It was shown to be measuring 86.4w @75% power. Some final tests and customer tests were run on the machine.
Whilst performing these last tests, it was noted that there was a strong smell of acrylic coming from the rear of the extractor unit. This showed that the extraction units carbon filter was either depleting or have become depleted., it was recommended to change the main filter.

There was still the time remaining of the allocated, the teaching staff requested some maintenance and machine operation training.
