Laser Machine Service near Euston, Lightblade 4060 60 watts – Pinter
A visit to a customer, Pinter was required as the customer had requested their annual service on their lightblade 4060 machine, which we would recommend for all our customers. The laser service was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –
Thinklaser Lightblade 4060 60 watt
Upon arrival at Pinter the Flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine was visually in good condition.

The customer had reported that the chiller unit had a minor internal leak and the Z-axis would not move in the upwards direction.
The chiller unit was emptied of all it’s water, and the damaged internal aluminium pipes were removed and replaced by silicon pipework. All were secured in place to avoid any movement and removal of any risk of the pipes coming into contact with any of the hot elements. The unit was refilled and tested for the duration of the site visit.
The internals of the Lightblade 4060 were inspected for the cause of the Z-axis not moving in the upwards direction. The autofocus pen was badly contaminated.

The laser tube and the autofocus pen were stripped, cleaned and reinstated inside the machine. The issue with the bed not being able to move up, is down to the homing of the z-axis against the autofocus pen. If the autofocus pen is contaminated and is ‘Stuck’ in the depressed position then it will constantly send a signal to the controller. This in turn sets the ‘0’ position at that position and it is not possible to go into the negative for the bed height, to save colliding with the gantry.
Since the autofocus pen had been cleaned and was no longer depressed, the Z-axis was able to move freely up and down to home as intended with the autofocus pen.

The remainder of the service of the laser machine was carried out and covered the below items: –
- Mirrors and Len Inspection & Clean
- Nozzle Inspection & Clean
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test

After completing all the service items as above, the laser alignment was checked and adjusted and the power measured from the nozzle. The power was showing that the laser was producing 60.2w @22mA 74%. The service for this machine had now been completed. The customer was so happy with our service that they left us a 5* google review.
