Laser Machine Service near Epsom, Technology Supplies 4060 40 watts – Kingswood House School
A visit to a customer, Kingswood House School was required as the customer had requested their annual service on their laser machine, which we would recommend for all our customers. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Upon arrival at Kingswood House School the flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine was very dusty and contaminated with lots of wood residue. The customer had said that their extractor unit was not working and they had replaced the controller board for new. So this would be the reason for the machine being contaminated.
The service of the machine was now started. The machine were hoovered and cleaned inside and out of all residue. Whilst this cleaning was taking place it was noticed that the laser tube was incorrectly installed. The laser tube was installed upside down, causing an air bubble to be lodged at the end of the laser tube.
The correct installation is to have the flow at the bottom and the return pipe connector to be at the top, this is so the air bubbles can get pushed and rise to the water output of the laser tube and get safely out of the laser tube. If you have air bubbles within your laser tube then this can cause hot spots with the tube and, in unfortunate cases, cause it to crack.
Due to the inoperable extractor the mirrors and lens were also contaminated. These were able to be cleaned and so were re-seated in their respective holders. The following remainder of the service items were carried out with no issues: –
- Nozzle Inspection & Clean
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
The laser alignment was checked and adjusted and the laser power was checked from the nozzle. This was shown to be producing 35,2w @18mA 52%.
The service of the laser machine was now completed and the attention could be turned to the issue of the extraction unit.
The customer had a Bofa AD Nano Plus extraction unit. the fault had first been reported to Technology Supplies 6 months earlier. The company had sent a replacement control board and the customer had fitted the unit, but were still having the same issue. The extraction unit would turn on, however the fan would not engage, and the front panel indicators would all be illuminated.

The front panel was opened and the replaced board inspected. It was found that one connector was not securely seated on the control board. This was reseated and this enabled the unit to turn on and the motor to start. The panel indicators were all still lite however. The filters were checked and were all found to be full, upon removing them, the extraction unit was working correctly and the indicators were all off. The customer was advised to replace both the combined filter and the pre-filter for the BOFA AD Nano.
