Laser Machine Service near Elstree – GCC X380 80 watt – Aldenham School
The visit to our new customer Aldenham School was requested as the customer was having issues with the marking table only moving downwards, the customer also wished to have conducted an annual service of their GCC X380 laser machine. We recommend to our customers that their laser machines get serviced once a year, to avoid any unnecessary downtime. This service was conducted by our highly experienced laser service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’, the laser service included: –
GCC X380 – 100watt
Upon arrival at Aldenham School the machine was visually inspected. The issue of the laser bed only moving down was investigated first. The autofocus pen was removed and inspected. It was noted that a small white plastic item had been inserted into the end of the autofocus pen and this was the likely reason for the pen not working. It was unable to be removed. The machine was powered on with the autofocus pen disconnected. The work table could now move up and down as per normal. The autofocus pen was reattached and the issue returned.

A new autofocus pen would need to be ordered and the customer was shown how to fit it themselves to avoid the requirement for another visit. The customer was happy to do so.
The attention could then be turned to the servicing of the X380 laser machine.
All the mirrors were inspected and cleaned. Mirror 2 did have some dis-colouration on the surface of the mirror, but it wasn’t effecting the performance currently. The customer was advised that this may need a replacement in the medium term future.

The service was continued with the following items checked
- Focusing Lens Inspected and cleaned
- Cleaned Nozzle and Laser Head Carriage
- Water Cooling Chiller Inspection, Clean, Drain & Refill – Cleaned chillers filters
- Inspect and Clean all Belts
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Electronics Inspection
- Beam Alignment
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The laser power was tested at the exit aperture of the nozzle and was shown to be reading 108w @ 29mA 100% power. The laser tube was inspected, and noted that the tube was made back in 2020. So the tube is doing well for it’s age.

The system had been installed with a BOFA Oracle IQ extraction system. The customer had replaced the Main Filter and Pre-Filter back in December 2025. However the Pre-filter was starting to show that it was starting to get full.

The customer then requested some basic maintenance training on the machine and this was provided whilst the customer sent several production jobs to the machine for the final tests.
Any of the consumable items mentioned above, Lens, Mirrors, Laser tubes, Power supplies are all available and can be bought separately in our online shop or through our partner site Laseruser.com which supplies a range of compatible GCC Lenses and mirrors.
