Laser Machine Service near CorfeMullen, on a 6840 60 watt HPC LaserScript Machine – Castle Court School
A visit to a new customer, Castle Court School was requested as the customers HPC Laser machine was not working as expect and was in need of a service. The laser service visit was conducted by our highly experienced laser service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’, the machine service visit included: –
Upon arrival at Castle Court School the machine was visually inspected. The laser machine looked to be in good overall condition apart from a small crack in the Perspex lid of the machine. Due to the curved nature of the screen a standard piece of Perspex would not fit, so a special piece will need to be ordered.
During the initial tests of the machine it was noted that the laser power measurement from the exit aperture from the laser nozzle was reading 40watts @ 100% power, no milliameter fitted.
All the optics were inspected and found to be very dirty. All the mirrors were cleaned and re-instated back into their housing.
The lens and laser nozzle were also cleaned, however there was a notable mark on the main focusing lens so this was replaced with a new 2.5″ focusing lens.
The remainder of the laser machine service was then continued. The following was carried out with no major issues seen: –
- Inspected, Drained and Flushed chiller before refilling with Distilled Water
- Inspected and Cleaned Belts
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Laser Alignment Check
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Inspected and checked Sensors, Switches and Emergency stop
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
The HPC laser power was measured after all the alignment and service items were carried out and the final output laser power coming from the exit aperture of the laser nozzle was now shown to be 65.4 watts @ 85% power.
Some final tests and customer tests were run on the machine.
Whilst performing these last tests, it was noted that the laser chamber did take a while to disperse the smoke on any job. It was noted that the system was using a small centrifugal fan of not sufficient size to effectively clear the smoke. The customer was advised to source a larger fan to help keep the enclosure clear of smoke and to keep the mirrors and optics as clean as possible for longer.
