Laser Machine Service near Canvey Island, on a LL10060 30 watt Lotus Laser Machine – Castle View School
A visit to a customer, Castle View School was requested by our partner RS Design and Technology as the customer had said that the machine was in need of a service. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser service visit included: –
Upon arrival at Castle View School the machine was visually inspected. Despite the machine being manufactured in 2008 the laser machine appear to be in a good condition.
The laser beam alignment was checked and all was located in the correct position, the red pointer alignment was slightly out, so this was adjusted accordingly.
The laser nozzle was inspected as it appeared to be heavily contaminated. The 2″ lens was removed as it was heavily damaged and had a crack on the outer edge. The lens was replaced with a new 2″ lens.
The schools technician had reported to RS Design and Technology that the red diode pointer had become larger and was difficult to accurately identify where the cutting was going to take place. With the replacement lens now in position this problem was resolved as the crack and damage on the old lens would have been distorting and scattering the red pointer beam and causing the beam to become enlarged and lose clarity. The laser nozzle was cleaned and reinstated back inside the machine.
The following were also checked as part of the visit
- Inspected and clean all mirrors
- Inspected, cleaned and oiled linear bearings
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Inspected and tested all sensors
- Inspected, cleaned the bed area and checked for flatness
- Cleaned the extractor grill and the fan intakes on the laser tube section
The laser power was first tested at the exit aperture to the laser nozzle The laser power was shown to be 27.9w @99% power.
The school had a Purex 800i as their main extraction, this was inspected and appeared to be in good condition as the filters were last replaced in October 2024.
