Laser Machine Service near Bromley on a Flux Beambox – Babington House School
A visit to a customer, Babington House School was required as the customer had a Flux Beambox in need of a service. We normally recommend to our customers that they get their laser machines serviced every year to avoid any unwanted downtime. This service was conducted by our laser machine service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’.
Flux Beambox
Upon arrival at Babington House School the machine was visually inspected. It was found that there were bubbles running through the laser tube, indicating that the water level was low. If you have bubbles running through your laser tube, or even a trapped bubble, we advise to try and remove these bubbles as it affects the cooling condition of the laser tube and can create a ‘Hot Spot’ in the tube, and can sometimes cause breakages. The reservoir was topped up with distilled water.
The service continued with the following items.
- Clean all Mirrors and Lens
- Checked Beam Alignment
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Clean Air Pump
- Clean Camera System
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
During the rest of these service items it was found that the bed was not level, this was adjusted to be flat with the laser head moment, in order to maintain focus across the entire work piece.
The laser power was tested coming from the nozzle. It was showing 35w @70% power.
The customer was using the Flux Air extractor. The pre-filter gauze was replaced and the main filter checked. All looked to be in order, however on power up there was a strong smell coming from the extractor. This would normally indicate that the main filter was either blocked or had reached its maximum saturation of certain fumes, so it was recommended to replace the main filter or if the customer was using the machine for large runs and filling up the filter on a regular basis, to then purchase a more industrial extraction unit.
