Laser Machine Repair near Stratford-upon-Avon, Boxford BGL460 80 watts – Henley in Arden School
A visit to a new customer, Henley-in-Arden School was requested as the customer had reported that the laser head was not moving correctly whilst processing a job and when using the HMI control buttons to move the head. Whilst on site the machine would also be given a health check. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –
Boxford BGL460 80 watt
Upon arrival at Henley-in-Arden School the flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine was in generally good condition.
The customer demonstrated the problem with the machine. As can be seen by the video, the movement of the laser head work well in the down and right movements, but when either the up or left button are pressed the laser head moving in a diagonal movement.
To start trimming down the potential cause of this issue, the HMI control unit was disconnected and a new HMI was reconnected in it’s place. This resolved the issue. The new HMI was fitted to the machine, but due to the method of mounting the HMI control unit with the Boxford machine meant that the new HMI wouldn’t secure inside. This was due to the new controller being thinner than the original. So in order to install the new HMI, the engineer removed all the internal electronics from the old HMI housing and replaced it with the electronics from the new HMI. This then enabled the HMI chassis to be secured back into the machine with working electronics.

Now that machine was working, Gavin now moved onto the health check of the machine. He ran a laser power test from the exit aperture of the laser head nozzle. The power was measured at 53w @85% power.
The internals of the machine were inspected and it was found that the mirrors and lens were quite dirty.

These were able to be cleaned as per the below images.

The beam realignment was checked and was pretty accurate. The power was measure again and was measured to be 88w @ 85% power.
The remaining items of a service were carried out with no issues: –

The service of the laser machine was now completed and the customer files were tested on the machine. The customer was happy with the service.
