Laser Machine Repair near Newhaven, Red Chinese Laser 60 watts – The Funk Firm
A visit to a new customer, The FunkFirm was requested as the customer had been in contact with us, explaining that the machine would not fire, the customer had already replaced the power supply unit suspecting that it was a faulty power supply, but the machine would still not fire. The laser repair was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser repair visit included: –

Upon arrival at The FunkFirm the flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine’s rear safety door covering the laser tube was missing along with the laser tube extension port, the main safety interlock on the main door was also non-functional. The customer was made aware of the safety implications but was happy with the hazards and risk associate with this removal. The customer had also partially fitted a new laser tube into the machine.

The newly installed PSU was inspected and was found that it had been installed incorrectly with the Live and Earth wire incorrectly connected. This wiring was rectified and the laser tube installation was completed. The machine was powered on and the laser tube was successfully pulsed using the controller.
The alignment was tested and adjusted, whilst completing this task it was observed that the water flow through the laser tube was poor resulting in a significant collection of air bubbles. The cause was investigated. The chiller output was verified as being normal, the investigation continued and was found that the flow sensor was severely restricting the flow and was not currently wired into the controller. The customer opted to remove the flow sensor with the knowledge that this could lead to a scenario that the laser tube could be fired without adequate cooling, risking damage to the laser tube.
The laser alignment was completed, with the mirrors and focusing lens cleaned. The laser power was then measured at the output of the laser nozzle. The laser power was shown to be 68w @85% power.
Clean and lubricated the linear rails and they were heavily clogged with old grease. The customer ran a number of test jobs on the machine and was happy with the repair work carried out.
