A visit to a customer, The Royal Masonic School for Girls was required as the customer had requested a call out as their were having issues with the working bed moving up and down and the laser head not moving freely. The laser repair was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser repair visit included: –

Upon arrival at The Royal Masonic School for Girls the machines were visually inspected. The bed was checked and it was found to be not level, as the customer had said that some material had got jammed when homing the Z-axis: –
The laser bed was re-leveled and the customer was shown the process of how to perform a bed leveling, to assist the customer in rectifying the issue if this happened again to the customer. As a secondary safety precaution the speed at which the up and down movement of the bed was allowed to travel was reduced within the controller setting.
Whilst checking the homing speed, it was noted that the auto-focus pen bracket was not installed correctly, this was adjusted and set properly to be able have the correct focal height of 7mm from the nozzle to the material.
In order to combat the laser head not movingly freely, the belts were checked and cleaned. The linear rails were cleaned and given a light lubrication. The X and Y limit sensors were checked and adjusted. The movement across the whole bed was then tested manually and with the controller movement. All was smooth and free as expected.
The customer piston struts which hold the main door, were not holding the door open particularly well and this is a potential serious issue as the door is quite heavy and if that fell upon anybody leaning in the machine. Therefore these were replaced as a safety precaution.
At the end of the laser repair, several of the customers test jobs were run and the customer was happy with all tests performed.
