Laser Machine Repair near Eversley, Thinklaser Lightblade’s 4060 60 watts – St Neots Primary School

A visit to a customer, St Neots Pre School was required as the customer had reported that the laser machine was not cutting through any material. The laser repair was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Thinklaser Lightblade 4060 60 watt

Upon arrival at St Neots Pre School the flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine was visually in good condition. However as part of the initial inspection it was found that the chiller pipes coming to the machine were connected in reverse. This could cause serious issues with the cooling of the laser tube. As the direction of flow is vitally important to avoid any air bubbles within the laser tube, as can cause localised heating and cause the glass tubes to crack. Which could amount to a costly repair. The pipes were connected correctly and the chiller unit emptied and refilled with distilled water.

Laser Machine Repair Near Eversley - Cracked Laser Tube

Due to the main reason for the visit was issues with cutting of material, one of the first areas that is checked is the laser alignment. In this occasion the alignment was severely out on all 3 mirrors. This had caused the laser to fire into the side of the laser nozzle and burnt the ‘o’ ring holding in the focusing lens. The lens could not be cleaned and so both the focusing lens and ‘o’ring were replaced.

To enable the customer to continue to enjoy years of laser processing and to avoid any potential further callouts, the laser alignment procedure was carried out with full instruction and training.

Upon completion of the alignment the power was tested at the laser nozzle. This was shown to measure 69w @22mA 89%.

The autofocus pen was set at the correct focus and several jobs were run on the machine for a full function test.

Any of the consumable items mentioned above, Lens, Mirrors, Laser tubes, Power supplies are all available and can be bought separately in our online shop.
