Laser Machine Repair near Canterbury, Boxford BGL1390 100 watts – Timescape Adventures Ltd
A visit to a new customer, Timescape Advenures Ltd, who is the creators of Escape Kent escape rooms. The customer had requested a visit as they had reported that the laser tube within their machine was not working correctly. Whilst on site the machine would also be given a health check. The laser repair was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser repair visit included: –

Upon arrival at Timescape Adventures facility the flatbed machine was visually inspected. The machine was in generally good condition.
The laser tube was checked and was found to be have a lot of discolourisation on the output of the laser tube. This is an indicator of the laser tube being overdriven. On these machines it is quite easy to overdrive the laser tube because the machine does not have an inbuilt milliamp meter to tell you what the laser tube is running at.
The laser tube was replaced with a SPT Laser tube. To avoid the same issue re-occuring, Gavin temporarily fitted an millamp meter into the system. Whilst this was in place. Gavin aligned the laser beam. Cleaned all the mirrors and lens, which was very dirty and upside down. Measured the laser power from the nozzle and was shown to be 101w @ 28mA@70%. This was locked into the controller to stop the machine from overdriving the laser.
The remaining items of a service were carried out with no issues: –
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
It was whilst calibrating the bed level, that it was noticed that the laser machine struggled to raise the laser bed. This was shown to the customer and it was something that they were aware of and it was down to the undersized motor on the Z-axis, being too small to cope with the size of the bed properly.
The repair of the laser machine was now completed and the customer files were tested on the machine.
