Laser Machine Repair near Addington, on a 1290 80 watt HPC LaserScript Machine – The Quest Academy
A visit to a customer, The Quest Academy was required as the customer had reported an issue with their HPC laserscript machine, the issue being that the gantry was colliding with the sides of the machine. The laser repair was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The laser repair visit included: –
Upon arrival at The Quest Academy the machine was visually inspected. The laser machine was in very good condition. It looked like it had never been used. The machine was purchased in the middle of 2018 and had not been used much since. This maybe because of the issue reported.
Gavin was able to initiate the homing sequence of the machine, which homed ok. Then using the controller movement buttons was able to move the head fully around the bed without colliding. So the issue needed to be investigated further.
After some more investigation the issue was found to be with the laser software on the computer. When loading LaserCut5.3 it would come up with an error message saying that it ‘Couldn’t delete certain files’. These files being ‘laser.ecp’, ‘laser.g00’, ‘laser’. You could get passed this error and the software would load. However upon creating any sized job, in this case a 10 x 10mm square, and uploading it to the laser it would take very long time and the file size would be very big. Upon running the job the head would collide with the side of the machine
To resolve the issue Gavin removed the 3 offending files and the software loaded as per expected with no error appearing. He created the same job as before and this time the file loaded in the expected time and was of the correct size. The job would run as expected.
Whilst on site the rest of the machine was visually inspected for any issues. The chiller CW4000, was found to have lots of mould inside, which had spread to the silicon pipework. The chiller unit was drained and flushed through, then re-filled with new distilled water. The silicon pipes were also replaced. The 80w Reci laser tube, had a lot of residue internally, but the flush through of the chiller and the remaining system managed to clear the majority of it.
The laser beam alignment was checked and the laser power was measured at the nozzle, it was shown to be producing 85w @75% power.
Several of the customer jobs were run on the machine to check it’s overall function and the customer was happy with the results produced.
