Laser Machine Fault Finding near Staines for not cutting to the correct size, on a Senfeng 1390 – Fuel 4 Ltd
A visit to our customer, Fuel4 Ltd was required as the customer had reported that the laser machine was not cutting to the correct size. The repair was conducted by our service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’.
Senfeng 1390 100 watt
Upon arrival at Fuel4 Ltd the machine was visually inspected. The investigation started by checking all the belts for any visible signs of wear and tear, none were found. The X-Axis belt seemed to be a little loose so was tightened. The next point to check was that the fixing screws for securing the pulleys to their respective shafts were tight. All were tight, although noted that there was only one grub screw holding the motor step gearing pulley. It was also noted that with the machine powered on and the motors energised it was possible to manually move the stages by hand.

A number of squares were processed and their measurements taken. From the measurements it was discovered that there was a mismatch. To change this Gavin went into the software and change the ‘Step Length’ this is a software setting which is used to calculate the number of steps of the motor, to the physical movement of the head. In essence a ‘Scaling Factor’ This was adjusted to bring the scale back into specification.
The machine was checked over different sizes, 150x150mm, 400x270mm, 700x100mm all measured within tolerances. The machine was then run at different speeds to see if there was any mismatch on faster speeds. The job was set at 400x 270mm and run at 50mm/s, 100mm/s, 150mm/s, 200mm/s and 250mm/s. All the produced rectangles were all measured within tolerances.

Whilst on site all the mirrors and lenses were cleaned, the nozzle and autofocus pen were also cleaned. The power was measured from the nozzle at 97w @85% power.
Any of the consumable items mentioned above, Lens, Mirrors, Laser tubes, Power supplies are all available and can be bought separately in our online shop.
