HPC Laser Service near Brighton, on a 6040 60 watt LaserScript Machine – We Make Stuff Happen
A visit to a customer, We Make Stuff Happen was required as the customer had requested an annual service be conducted on their machine. The service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Upon arrival at We Make Stuff Happen the machine was visually inspected. The machine had since been moved from the workshop into a better location within the business. The water cooling with these older HPC machine tends to be just a bucket of water, with a aquarium water pump inside.
These do work fine in normal conditions however, they do need more maintenance than a standard chiller unit. As these are normally in a plastic container, they are susceptible to algae and bacteria growth if not changed on a roughly 3 monthly basis. We would always recommend a minimum of a CW 3000 chiller unit as opposed to the aquarium water pump issued with this machine.
For extraction the unit was fitted with an inline fan, this struggled to clean the smoke from inside the machine, this normally results in the mirrors and lens getting steadily more contaminated and can cause degradation in the engraving or cutting quality and speed. This preventative maintenance can avoid the following issue with optics, as can be seen in the below photos: –
The rest of the service was completed as per the below:-
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Auto Focus Pen Inspection & Clean
- Honey Comb Bed Inspection & Leveling
- Electronics Inspection
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
- Check overall machine function by Test Cutting Customer Materials
The machines laser power was tested from the nozzle at the end of the service visit to ensure optimal performance the laser power was shown to be 65.5w @ 85% power.
Several jobs were run on the machine to check it’s overall function and then Gavin ran through some essential maintenance and software training.
