Boxford Laser Service near Oxted – 6090 80W – Oxted School
The visit to our customer Oxted School was requested by our partner RS Design and Technology as the customer had requested their annual service of their Boxford 6090 laser marking machine. The laser service was conducted by our highly experienced service engineer ‘Gavin Edwards’. The service visit included: –

Upon arrival at Oxted School the engineer started by visually inspecting the machine. There was no obvious issues that could be seen, so the laser service was started.
On standard laser services we usually test the laser power before commencing any service work to establish the health check for the machine. In this case the laser power was measured at the exit aperture of the laser nozzle and was shown to be measuring 70.5w @ 75% power. No milliamp meter are normally on these machines.
All the mirrors were removed, inspected and cleaned. The main focusing lens is also removed and inspected. The lens was found to be slightly damaged on the outside of the lens, but this should not effect the beam performance. Upon discussions with the customer a spare 2.5″ lens was left with the customer just in case.
The nozzle itself was heavily contaminated with residue. This was cleaned when the main focusing lens was reinstalled into the nozzle housing.
The laser service was continued with the following checks and none to only minor issues were found-
- Inspect, Clean and Lubricate all Linear/Guide Rails
- Inspect, Clean and tension belts
- Checked and cleaned laser tube
- Drained, flushed and refilled chiller with distilled water
- Calibrate Bed Level
- Inspected Interlocks and Chiller Alarms
- Inspected and checked electrics, sensors and switches
- Safety Interlocks Inspection & Test
This completed the Boxford laser service. After completing all the necessary service items the laser was remeasured at the exit aperture of the laser nozzle. The laser was shown to be now measuring 82.1W @ 75%.
The system is run with a Purex 400i the filters were replaced in early 2026 and it was noted to the customer that the Pre-Fitler was showing signs of discolouration and to keep an eye on the unit.
The system was given a full bill of health and several jobs were run on the machine to test.
