Laser Cutting and Engraving Machines Health and Safety

Interlocks play a crucial role in laser cutting and engraving machines. It is essential to use the correct interlock type in conjunction with a safety relay circuit for enhanced safety. Safety relays perform defined safety functions by ensuring controlled and safe movement stoppage, monitoring the position of movable guards, and interrupting closing movements in case of intervention. Interlockings can be mechanical, electrical (electro-mechanical or relay-based), or electronic/computer-based. To maintain the safety rating of the component, a safety relay is required.
