Laser marking chrome plated ABS Application – A1 Auto

This product crosses the boundaries between automotive, fashion and the gifting industries. The material is chrome plated ABS, it’s a number plate bracket for various luxury cars owned by the client including a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW. Laser marking ABS allows you to create a permanent design on the plastic. The chrome plating gives the plastic a quality, high-end feel.

Laser Marking Of Chrome Plated Abs

Using an Nd:YAG q switched laser, we remove a very thin layer of the chrome to create a contrast to the surface. If we penetrate too deep into the plastic material then the chrome is affected, which can cause chips and peeling. Therefore, the process is quite tricky and requires a great deal of skill to carry off. The plastic was laser marked with the logos of the car manufacturers.

Laser marking is a great way of adding a personal touch to your possessions.
